Arthur Brown
The God of Hellfire
Arthur Brown is a British rock singer and performer best known for his theatrical stage presence and his 1968 hit “Fire” with The Crazy World of Arthur Brown. Born in Whitby, Yorkshire, in 1942, Brown became famous for his flamboyant performances, eccentric costumes, and his signature flaming helmet, earning him the nickname “The God of Hellfire.” His fusion of rock, psychedelia, and performance art made him a pioneer of shock rock, influencing artists like Alice Cooper, Kiss, and Marilyn Manson.
Beyond his early fame, Brown continued to experiment musically, incorporating progressive rock, electronic, and operatic elements into his work. Known for his powerful, operatic voice and fearless creativity, Arthur Brown remains an enduring cult figure in the history of British rock. Arthur was our first collaborator in the Kindred Spirit Music journey back in 2020 and he has been a long time supporter of our efforts and continues to help where he can.
